Founded in 1988, Parkway Middle School is a coeducational public school that first serves the local community as a zoned school. Further availability for enrollment is fulfilled through application and essay. Our curriculum aligns with the Florida State Standards and incorporates the Middle Years Program in an effort to promote international-mindedness and rigorous, engaging classroom experiences.
Parkway Middle School offers French and Spanish in the Language Acquisition Department, where students are able to earn high school credit for successfully completing a Phase 4/5 year-long course. The Arts are prominent on our campus, with offerings in multiple levels of Visual Art, Chorus, Orchestra, Band, Guitar, Drama and Dance. Upon entering the sixth grade at Parkway, all students are enrolled in a Visual Art course as well as the Performing Art of their choice. During their seventh and eighth grade years they are afforded the opportunity to further their experience in the Art they choose (Visual or Performing).
Career and Technical Education is also fully supported campus-wide with full-year Design courses being offered to all students. Students may earn high school credit for the Computers for College and Careers course offered in eighth grade. Underclassmen are offered Career and Audio/Visual courses, as well as Computer classes. Culinary Arts is one area of exceptionalism at Parkway. Students participate in the complete culinary experience and cook and serve for many large events on campus.
Parkway students thrive in the area of Physical Education. Many students participate in popular sports, such as Flag Football, Softball, Soccer, Track and Field, Cross Country, Basketball and Cheerleading. Our students have earned many district-wide championships in the past including District Championships in Flag Football, Basketball and Cross Country. Extracurricular activities are also very engaging for our students. We offer the 21st Century Community Learning Centers before and after school program that provides academic tutoring as well as enrichment opportunities for our students to participate in.
Parkway's facilities include modern and innovative technology that provide students with continued opportunities for technology development. With more than five full-sized labs to take advantage of, our students are benefiting from our state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.
The AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program has become extremely valuable to the school, providing tutoring and intensive training in college-readiness skills. Students participate in AVID through application and interview.
Parkway became authorized in January of 2014.
